Social Work Presentations
After reading a harrowing statistic that Filipina adolescents suffer from disproportionately higher rates of suicidal ideation in comparison to the general population, I went down the rabbit hole of asking “why?“.
This project for my Confronting Oppressing class taught by Dr. Mendoza dives into the background of the unique colonialism surrounding the Philippines and its impact on mental health.
I address my goals for indigenizing mental health on the micro, mezzo, and macro levels.
Shoutout to the Filipino scholars I look up to and I cited in this work:
Filipino American Psychology by Dr. Nadal and Brown Skin White Minds by Dr. EJ David
If you would like to ask me questions in person about this presentation, I’ll be presenting this July at the FANHS conference :)
Break the Glass Ceiling is a career development presentation I created for the new (Gen(Z))eration. I introduced career development resources for those wanting to pursue careers in social work and non-profits.
