ABOUT ME

Howdy! According to the US Census, I’m a second-generation Filipina American— but in my heart, I’m a 1.5 generation Pinay born and raised in Texas.

I’ve spent the last year working in the deathcare industry providing spiritual mentorship while attaining my Master of Social Work at the University of Houston (UH).

I was previously at the University of Southern California to pursue research under Filipino mentors and collaborate with the Filipino community. I have long-term goals of researching the intersections of spirituality and mental health while utilizing somatic therapy in my future work as a clinician. I talk about this more in my portfolio.

Despite transferring to UH, I have begun volunteering under Dr. Javier at the Filipino Family Health Initiative to develop community based interventions in improving mental health for Fil-Am children.

I hope to explore medical social work to help vulnerable populations in the Philippines receive proper medical care.

When I’m away from my desk, I practice self-care through teaching myself new sports, sweating at my Muay Thai gym, or exploring the outdoors.
